NASA. Nice view of space shuttle DISCOVERY (Mission STS-64) landing at Edwards Air Force Base, California, on September 20, 1994. The braking parachute is still fully deployed. The mission's objective was to study clouds in the atmosphere using a laser system called LITE (Lidar In-Space Technology Experiment). The SPARTAN satellite was also deployed in space, and will be retrieved at a later date to study the solar corona. Bad weather at the Kennedy Space Center on September 19 led to the Space Shuttle flight being extended by a day and diverted to Edwards Air Force Base in California.
Vintage chromogenic print on "KODAK" paper. NASA logo and typed caption on back. 20,2x25,cm with margins.
